As many of you know, I’m far from being that slim athletic guy that most of you (East Europeans) are. On the contrary; but I’ve seen worse, so hey, bare with me!
Obviously, one of the good ways to lose some pounds is by doing some sports. Ok. Not many of you know that some 18 years ago (holy moly, I’m getting old!) I was a national champion with my junior basketball team. I quit because of some alergia, whose treatment says one should avoid doing effort. BS! That was one of my biggest mistakes in life.
While working at my first real job, between 1999 and 2002, at Aurora in Satu Mare, our boss made a habit of taking most of the guys to the sports field, Vointa (EN: “Will”) every Friday and Saturday late afternoon, for some running and playing football. I hated it, but I admit it was a good practice and I miss it. He still does it. He’s 50+ years old, but he’s moving better than any youngster in his performance as runner and football player. And he’s totally healthy.
One of my challenges in going to sports since I moved to Bucharest was the distance to the arena. I hate wasting time commuting through the city. By the way, I’m about to buy a scooter sometime soon, so check your car’s side mirror when opening the doors, ok? Finally, I settled this summer for a particular sport, that I do twice a week, for two hours. What is it? You’ll have to guess… (he/she who knows, shut up!)
It’s darn hard to leave the office desk alone and move my ass to the sports hall. But I challenge myself to miss sports as rarely as possible. There’s interruptions and better things to do, as a choice to sports, EVERY single time! Let me tell you: it’s just apparently so. It’s a little Devil who doesn’t want you to be healthy. Do you feel me? I’m sure you’ve had this situation over and over again.
Don’t miss sports.
Oh, and leave me alone Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7 pm and 11 pm. Merci!
LATER EDIT:
After writing this post, I wasn’t able to make it to sports for two weeks!!!
