On 9/11 five years ago, I was during a training session with a great dog when my mother called me and shocked the hell outta me. America under attack? Immediately I left home and watched the crazy moments right after the plane crashes. Long story with this event, you all know something or all about it, but I am sure it left some mental scars on many people, no matter who was behind it or why.
Just a few hours ago it occured to me to write a post, this post in fact, acknowledging that ever since 9/11 nothing moved me so much as the recent death of “Crocodile Hunter”, Steve Irwin from Australia. Why did that have to happen? How is it that a man who’s all day long among dangerous animals gets an innocent stingray’s barb right in the heart? Beats me.
BUT… just a few minutes ago I learned that Cristi Melinte, an AIESEC alumnus from Sibiu, friend of mine, died in a tragic car accident in Ramnicu Valcea. He was not my best friend, you know. I didn’t even know him very well. I guess I only met him once or twice. But if I was to name a word that comes to mind when I think about him, that word would be “life”. Life to the max. I’ll miss you, man.
That makes it three. I really hope I don’t get to four by the end of the day. I really do, believe me.

LATER EDIT: Marine explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau recently said that while he mourns the recent death of “The Crocodile Hunter,” Steve Irwin, he disagrees with Irwin’s approach to nature television.
LATER EDIT 2: The Daily Telegraph published a very good article with Irwin’s manager John Stainton: Life with the real Steve Irwin. A must read if you liked him.
