As a fan of TED videos, I’ve immediately activated the download of podcasts to iTunes when I got an iPhone 3G. However, I also realized that there’s no way one can squeeze those 292 videos (up-to-date) into the little memory the iPhone has available.
My hidden desire got answered: there’s a brand new application in the Apple Store called TED, which does exactly what it says. It presents all the TED videos for you to see, without having to download them. App goes straight to YouTube, so you can watch it.
A drawback so far, from my observation: videos don’t always load. YouTube gets stuck.

I was also really happy when I discovered that app a few days ago. Unfortunately it doesn’t work in China. My guess is that it’s using the feedburner feeds that TED provides and feedburner is blocked in China. There is no way to set up a proxy…
Do you know any way to download the TED videos so I can watch them offline on the iPhone?
Indeed, so I’ve heard about the China issue. However, you can always download the podcasts in iTunes, and transfer them to the iPhone for offline playing. This actually works. Look for the podcast link on TED.com.
Never thought about subscribing directly from iTunes.
Works great, thanks!
